Questions & answers
Common questions about services, fees, privacy and online sessions.
How much does a session cost?
Each professional sets their own fee; the fee and session length are shown on their profile. There are no hidden charges.
How do I book a session?
Send a “session request” from an expert’s profile, or if you’re not sure who to see, tell us. We will call you to confirm the time and payment method.
How do online sessions work?
Once the time is confirmed, the session link is sent by SMS. At the session time, open the link and the video or audio call starts. Find a quiet place, use headphones and a good internet connection.
Will what I say stay confidential?
Yes. What you say in a session stays between you and your professional. Information you give in website forms is seen only by Shotta’s authorised team. Details are in our policies and terms.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
If you cancel at least 24 hours before the session, you get a full refund or can reschedule for free. See the “Cancellation and refunds” section of our policies.
Psychologist or psychiatrist: who should I see?
See a psychiatrist if medication may be needed or symptoms are severe; see a psychologist if you want to work on problems through talking. Read more, or tell us and we’ll match you.
How are professionals verified?
We check bachelor’s and master’s certificates, training, references and ID (and BMDC registration for psychiatrists), and a profile goes live after approval by the advisory panel. Details
Are my self-test answers stored anywhere?
No. Self-test answers are calculated on your own phone or computer and never reach us.
Can someone under 18 get help?
Yes, with a parent’s or guardian’s consent and contact.
I feel very bad right now. What should I do?
Call the Shotta support line 01788-116045 (24 hours, a psychologist on duty). If a life is in immediate danger, call 999 now.
